MICHAEL ROSEN   “My life and Children’s Poetry” 

One of the best known figures in the Children’s Book world,

Michael is renowned for his work as a poet, performer, broadcaster and script writer. ‘

One of the most significant figures in contemporary Children’s Poetry.

MEGAN McCUBBIN    “Stopping Extinction – an Atlas of Endangered Species”.

Megan is a well-known zoologist, TV presenter, author, conservationist and photographer. She will describe what is currently being done and show how we can individually help.

 

Friday 6th December 2024

LINDA KELLY  "Pantomimes at the Manor Operatic Society”.

Linda is Director/Choreographer of the old-established Manor Operatic Society which is well-loved in Sheffield. She will tell us about what it takes to get the pantomime ready for a Christmas production.

 

Friday 3rd January 2025

SARAH McLEOD   "Regeneration of Wentworth Woodhouse"

Sarah is CEO of Wentworth Woodhouse and will talk about progress made at the House

and what is involved in the regeneration of prime historic sites.

She was previously CEO of Cromford Mills and oversaw its redevelopment.

 

Friday 7th February 2025

ANNE SEBBA   “That Woman”.

Anne is a biographer, lecturer and journalist. She will talk about ‘That Woman’, the first full biography written by a woman, of the American divorcee Wallis Simpson, who caused a King

to abdicate for love and nearly brought down the British Empire. 

Anne will also tell us the fascinating background of how this book came about.

ANN TRENEMAN   “Starting over ……. And over”.

Ann who lives in Bakewell is a Times Columnist. She has been a political sketch writer, theatre critic and is now a landscape gardener. She still finds time to write an occasional column in the Times

 

Friday 4th April 2025

ANTONIA KEANEY   “Ladies of Blenheim Palace – Lust and Laudanum”.

Antonia is a Blenheim Palace researcher. She will give a fascinating and entertaining look at

the ladies of the Marlborough/Churchill family, who were usually overlooked in favour of the men.

BRENTON WEST and RAJ BISRAM    "Buy it, Sell it or Repair it?"

Brenton West is the award-winning silversmith and precious metal expert who you may have

seen on The Repair Shop, and Raj Bisram is the auctioneer

and antiques expert you may know from the Antiques Roadshow.
